'Billa' is remake of Tamil Blockbuster 'Billa'. It is stylish and well made film which is racy
and entertaining. The director has come up with an old storyline, but has given a new
look.... Old wine in new bottle. The presentation is alright but the screenplay had few
flaws.
Story:
Billa (Prabhas) is the most wanted criminal operating from Malaysia, who is into weapons,
gold and other illegal activities. He is chased by ACP Krishnamurthy (Krishnamraju) but
Billa gets away each time. Later Billa dies in an encounter but without giving the details of a
deal that he has with Rashid Khan (Kelly). Krishna Murthy keeps it as a secret and brings
Billa’s lookalike Ranga – a petty thief onto the scene. The rest of the story is all about how
Ranga helps out Krishna Murthy.
Performance:
Prabhas is extremely stylish as Billa, his second role as Ranga is entertaining. His body
diction and performance is apt.
Anushka looks glamorous. Hansika Motwani did a sifnificant role and is good. Namitha is
hot. Krishnamraju does an okay good job. Jayasudha appears for a brief while as
Krishnam Raju's wife. Rehman is competent in a vital role. Ali is apt in his short role. Kelly
Dorji is average.
Music:
Music and background score by Mani Sharma is average. Picturization of couple of songs
are good. Choreography in 'Bommari Bommali' is good.
Verdict:
Overall 'Billa' is entertaining. First few minutes of the movie is dragging but eventually picks
up. If you are a diehard fan of prabhas then the movie is worth watching. 'Billa' can be rated
